WGN Feature Story: The Affordable Housing Crisis in a Segregated Chicago
In Jefferson Park, on Chicago's Northwest Side, a group of residents has come together with stakeholders to support a proposed development that will contain 80 affordable, accessible units. This new organization, Neighbors for Affordable Housing in Jefferson Park (NfAH), coalesced to respond to explosive and often bigoted opposition to the proposal. With the capacity Chicago Housing Initiative member organizations and the stakeholders leading CHI member organizations, NfAH is leading the way forward in Chicago on the ways in which communities can affirmatively further fair and open housing on a very local level.
